Ken Baldwin and Igor Agafonov are an unusual match. Igor the engineer and Ken a visual artist are neighbors but both are also guitarists and composers. Baldwin, a finger-stylist, is more grounded in an Americana acoustic guitar whereas Russian born Agafonov has the gift of instrumental improvisation with a style that’s steeped in jazz and fusion music. It is a blend of roots from two different parts of the world, collaborating and creating an individual sound that has been described as “transparent and seamless.”

Over the years, Ken has had many of his recordings and compositions on the air with NPR affiliates across the country.

Their performances are a collection of original compositions that stem from complex instrumentals, to lyrical melodies and humorous songs from the far side.
Mezzo soprano Janet Hopkins and jazz vocalist Kanisha Fields will be performing a few of the Baldwin/Agafonov tunes for this event. Violinist Jim Graddick will be adding his innovative musical support along with harpist Michael G. Brown on harmonica
